Application Recommendations
1. Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is essential for achieving strong adhesion and long-term coating performance.
Concrete must be structurally sound, clean, and free from dust, oil, grease, moisture conditions outside manufacturer limits, and contaminants that could interfere with adhesion.
For direct-to-concrete applications, mechanically prepare the surface to achieve the concrete surface profile (CSP) specified by Lab Surface.
When applying over an existing LABPOX epoxy coating, ensure the epoxy has reached the appropriate curing stage and is within the manufacturer’s recommended recoat window.
If the recoat window has been exceeded, additional mechanical abrasion may be required.
2. Mixing
AQUALAB PUR is a two-component polyurethane system consisting of Part A and Part B.
Measure and combine both components according to the manufacturer’s specified mixing ratio.
Mix thoroughly using a low-speed mechanical mixer until the material is uniform.
Avoid excessive mixing speeds that could introduce air into the coating.
Do not dilute unless specifically permitted by the manufacturer.
3. Application
Apply AQUALAB PUR using manufacturer-approved application equipment and techniques.
Distribute the coating evenly to maintain consistent coverage and film thickness.
For clear applications, select the desired Gloss, Satin, or Matte finish.
For pigmented applications, use the manufacturer-approved color formulation.
Maintain a consistent wet edge to minimize visible application marks.
4. Curing & Recoating
Allow the coating to cure according to the manufacturer’s technical data sheet.
Actual curing times depend on temperature, humidity, ventilation, application thickness, and substrate conditions.
Water-based polyurethane coatings require appropriate environmental conditions for proper drying and curing.
Protect the coated surface from moisture, contamination, and premature traffic during the curing process.
Why Contractors Choose AQUALAB PUR
Choosing the right protective topcoat is essential for achieving the desired appearance and long-term performance of decorative concrete flooring.
AQUALAB PUR offers contractors the flexibility to select between Gloss, Satin, and Matte finishes while maintaining the benefits of a water-based, non-yellowing aliphatic polyurethane system.
Its low-odor formulation makes it particularly attractive for residential interiors, commercial spaces, and other environments where solvent odors are a concern.
For contractors installing metallic epoxy floors, AQUALAB PUR provides a versatile protective topcoat option that can help maintain the decorative appearance while delivering additional surface protection.

Important: Always review the current AQUALAB PUR Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Mixing ratios, coverage rates, application temperatures, curing times, substrate requirements, and recoat windows must follow the manufacturer’s specifications. A water-based formulation does not eliminate the need for appropriate ventilation and personal protective equipment.
